GAIA ALLSKY EXPERIMENT HiPS

All-Sky · G ≤ 20 · No Milky Way Overlay

Over a billion real stars,
projected onto the entire celestial sphere.

This map uses measured positions and brightnesses for about 1.06 billion G≤20 stars from Gaia DR3, projected onto the full celestial sphere as a HiPS tile pyramid. The Milky Way, the Large Magellanic Cloud, and the Small Magellanic Cloud are not drawn separately. The bright band, dark lanes, and cloud-like structures come from the real stellar density measured in those directions. The online Lite release reaches Norder 7, roughly 50 gigapixels, with a best resolution of about 3.22 arcseconds per pixel.
